3 Major Anemia Reasons for Elderly
There is a high incidence of anemia in the elderly, which is also one concerned health problem for people.
There are three main factors for elderly anemia, one is the digestive dysfunction for elderly, which is easily cause malabsorption of nutrients, and the other is the poor chewing function for elderly, which is affected the digestion and absorption of food, and the last one is there are more simple vegetarian elderly, which will make simple food if they keep eating vegetarian, and incomplete intake of nutrients and is a form of "eclipse" behavior.
The occurrence of anemia is mainly related with the deficiency of iron, vitamin B12, folic acid and protein. The factors which mentioned above may cause the lack of these nutrients, leading to the high incidence of anemia and easy to happen mixing of anemia.
Therefore, the elderly people should have the balance diet on meat and vegetables, and try to avoid the simple vegetarian diet and partial eclipse and to ensure the dietary diversification. Vegetarians will have to regularly make blood, iron protein and vitamin B12 test. If necessary, it should give intravenous nutrition and iron for reduce the incidence of anemia.
