Yahoo Sells "Delicious" to YouTube Founders

The co-founder Chad Hurley and Steve Chen of YouTube on Wednesday announced that they had acquired the social bookmarks site Delicious.com from Yahoo.

The two people sold YouTube to Google as 1.6 billion in 2006, while Delicious may become part of AVOS.com that is the new Internet companies. But neither of them said the specific purchase price.

Yahoo have previously said, Delicious is not a part of its future development plans. The company spokesman said the sale negotiation began in 2010.

Yahoo said in the statement, this is part of the company’s focus on developing news, sports, finance and other core business. In recent years, the company has also sold some other assets, including job site Hotjobs.com.

Yahoo senior vice president of public relations and community John Matheny said:" we have communicate with many groups which are all interest in acquiring the site, and finally we choose Hurley and Steve Chen for their passionate and unique views on Delicious. "

The currently CEO of AVOS Hurley said:" We believe that there is a huge opportunity to simplify save and share web content." Both Hurley and Steve Chen had already left from YouTube. Yahoo said that the two people started recruiting actively and hoped to build a world-class team.

Delicious was founded in 2003, and acquired by Yahoo two years later, and it has millions of users now. Hurley has left Google and Steven Chen still holds the post of Google venture capital sector consultant.
